Info-technology is passe bio-technology is the rage .it is in the fore-front of research in developed countries and the trend is catching in India. In a decade from now the mantra would be bio informatics,a fusion of InfoTech and bio technology. Biotechnology applies an assortment of techniques to living cells to produce a particular product of improved quality. It is an integrated approach that requires knowledge of the different branches of science. It can be an exciting and intriguing field for those with a scientific mind and can find unexpected possibilities in this field. Biotechnology is a research-oriented field and covers areas like medicine, pharmacy, agriculture and the environment. It finds applications in most of the industries like chemical, pharmaceutical, textiles, genetics and agriculture. Some of the important tasks include - the production of bio-processed, material-like food, pharmaceuticals, tissue culture and chemicals as well as the execution of pollution controlled measures, developmental studies in regions like waste
For admission to the degree course the student should have passed 10+2 or intermediate board of examination or any other equivalent course with minimum aggregate of 50%marks.
DURATION OF THE COURSE
The course of study extends for over a period of 3 academic years. The syllabus varies from time to time depending on changes made by Kakatiya University. PAPER I) Bio-Physics. Bio-Chemistry, Micro Biology, Cell Biology, Biometri and Bio Informatics. PAPER II) Genetics, Molecular Biology and Recombinant-DNA Technology. PAPER III) Plant tissue culture, animal tissue culture and eminology. Paper IV) Agriculture Bio Technology, AnimalBio Technology, Industrial Bio Technology, Environment Bio Technology, Medical Bio Technology.
CLASS ROOMS AND LABS
Classrooms of the college building fulfill all standard requirements, which are necessary for a good academic environment. The rooms are spacious and brightly lit The labs posses all the required equipment like autoclave, biological incubator, ph meters digital meters etc.
Bio-technologists can find careers with pharmaceutical companies, chemical, agriculture and allied industries. They can be employed in the areas of planning, production and management of bioprocessing industries. There is large-scale employment in research laboratories run by the government as well as the corporate sector.
