Like medicine, microbiology isn't a single subject, but rather an umbrella, which offers a range of specializations. Microbiology has spawned a plethora of jobs in wide spectrum of industries from pharma to cosmetics. Microbiologists have a very important role to play in the scheme of things in the future, with research being the main field of expertise. Applying the research findings can greatly improve the quality of our lives. In this way microbiology makes an important contribution to biotechnology, an area of science that applies industrial techniques to biological processes. The department consists of both degree as well as PG Courses.
ELIGIBILITY
For bachelors degree in microbiology; the candidate must have passed the two year course of intermediate examination of Andhra pradesh intermediate board or any other state with a minimum 50% marks in biology group.
DURATION OF THE COURSE
It extends over a period of three academic years. The curricula and syllabus varies from year to year. PAPER I) General Micro biology. PAPER II) Microbial Metabolism and Molecular Biology. PAPER III) Immunology and Medical Molecular Biology. PAPER IV) Applied Micro Biology
CAREER PROSPECTS
Graduates with specialist degrees in microbiology are equipped to enter employment with more focused functions such as microbiological analysis, quality assurance or research and development.
